Accidental drug overdose is currently the leading cause of death in the United States. Drug overdose deaths now exceed those attributable to firearms, car accidents, or homicides. As the pandemic raged across he US last year, drug overdose took a turn for the worst with more than 93,000 people who died in 2020. The 29.4% increase is a huge jump from 2019. The spike in deaths was driven by the increase presence of the dangerous opioid fentanyl into the illicit drug market in the US. Fentanyl is now linked to 3 out of 5 overdose deaths nationwide. A blue pill with the number M30 is not only taken by mouth they are now smoking the pill to get a better effect. It carries 2 milligrams of fentanyl which can be a lethal dose. Administration reported that 26% of the counterfeit pain pills sold on the streets illegally contain that dosage or higher, people aren’t even aware of what they are taking. Now is the time to find help for your loved ones and avoid any more deaths due to drugs.
